QTL Experiment in Brief |
Animals: | A commercial broiler dam-line was used in 1986 as the base population for a divergent selection for high or low Ab response at 20 days of age following E. coli vaccination at 10 days of age. |
Breeds associated:
n/a
|
Design: | At 10 days of age, all chickes were simultaneously immunized by subcutaneous injetion of E. coli and Salmonella enteritidis vaccines. Ten days post-vaccination, chicks were bled and individual sera were subjected to an ELISA protocol. |
Analysis: | In each sire family, 50 chicks from each progeny typed, 25 with the highest and 25 with the lowest average corrected values of Ab titres to E. coli and S, enteritidis, and their dams, were individually genotyped. |
