QTL Experiment in Brief |
Animals: | A line of White Leghorn egg laying chickens was chosen as one of the foundation lines and the other was a commercial broiler sire-line that had been genetically selected for high growth rates and breast muscle yields. |
Breeds associated:
n/a
|
Design: | Birds were weighed at 3,6, and 9 (slaughter) wk of age. The weights of the breast meat, breast sking, legs, thighs, wings, residual carcass and skin fat were recorded. |
Analysis: | Threre were 101 microsatellite markers in 27 linkage groups available for analysis. A linear model for the additive and dominance effects of a qTL at a given position was analysed by least squares for eacht trait. |
