  •  QTL Experiment in Brief
Animals:489 Suffolk sheep in three half-sib families and 903 Texel animals in nine half-sib families. 116 offspring per family on average (range 61-276).
     Breeds associated:
Design:Phenotypic data measured: live weight at 8 and 20 weeks; ultrasonically measured fat and muscle depth at 20 weeks. Corrected for fixed effects. Genotyping: chromosomes 1-6, 11, 18 and 20 in candidate gene regions at 10cM intervals.
Analysis:Data were analysed at the breed and family level, and across families when related (two Suffolk sires and two Texel sires were related). Marker order as per Maddox et al. 2001. Permutation testing 5% regional thresholds.
    Software:CRIMAP, ASREML
