Animals:Animals were from two cohorts of crossbred commercial pigs. Panel 1 originated from a cross between a DunBred (Landrace x Yorkshire) maternal hybrid line and Landrace or Duroc paternal lines. Panel 2 was the offspring of a cross between a maternal Camborough+ hybrid line (itself a cross of Large White x Duroc, and a paternal line, a cross between British Large White and Pietrain.
     Breeds associated:
Design:Animals were genotyped for SNPs in the CAPN9, OSM, and ITGAM genes, and association analysis was performed for umbilical hernia.
Analysis:An odds ratio test was performed to determine significant differences between SNP allele frequencies comparing umbilical hernia cases and controls. Logistic regression was used to analyze haplotype effects.
    Software:MedCalc, R software (SNPassoc v2.0-2, haplo.stats v1.8.7, haplo.glm)
