Subject: Full Professorship "Animal Breeding and Animal
        Genetics" at BOKU University, Vienna, Austria

Dear colleagues,

this is to announce that BOKU University, Vienna seeks to appoint a Full
Professor of Animal Breeding and Animal Genetics with 1st October 2025, call
document is attached.

The responsibilities of the post holder include research with at least two of
the following focal points:

• Genetics of relevant traits of livestock and methods of bioinformatics and
genomics

• Analysis of "big data" from high-throughput genotyping and genome
sequencing in combination with traditional and new phenotypes

• Genetics of diversity with a focus on genetic analysis and management of
endangered breeds

• Development and support for the implementation of breeding programs
Active cooperation with animal breeding organizations is expressly desired.

Teaching includes lectures, seminars and excursions in German and English, as
well as the supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses and dissertations.
Proficiency of German language is not a requirement, while willingness to
pick up language proficiency in a relatively short period is.

Please note that submission deadline is September 15, 2024.

Personal note: BOKU rectorate has claimed this to be a key professorship for
the univeristy and I will love to see a great successor upon my retirement.
