Subject: Ph.D. Opportunity in Reproductive Genomics at Penn
State
Date: Wed, 13 Nov 2024 10:43:25 -0600
Dear Colleagues,
We have a Ph.D. position available in the Department of Animal Science at
The Pennsylvania State University. We are seeking a highly motivated, goal-
oriented, and intellectually curious student to pursue a Ph.D. in genomics,
testis biology, and male reproduction. The project focuses on:
1. Investigating temporal transcriptome dynamics and gene regulatory
networks during bovine testis development.
2. Identifying germ cell-specific transcriptome dynamics and gene
regulatory networks involved in spermatogenesis.
3. Conducting transcriptome-wide association studies (TWAS) to identify
genes associated with male fertility traits.
The candidate will be responsible for research involving bovine testis
sample collection, RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, gene
annotation, and eQTL analysis to pinpoint candidate causal genes for male
fertility traits.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate should hold a Masters degree in
animal science, genetics, molecular biology, genomics, reproductive
biology, or a related field. They should have a strong background in
molecular biology, proficiency in English, and a team-oriented mindset.
Experience in genomic data analysis and bioinformatics is highly desirable.
Application Instructions: To apply, please contact Dr. Wansheng Liu at
wul12psu.edu and submit the following: (a) a cover letter detailing your
qualifications and career goals, (b) a resume, (c) three letters of
reference, and (d) university transcripts and GRE/TOEFL scores.
Once the successful candidate is selected, a formal application to the PSU
Graduate School (http://www.gradschool.psu.edu/) will be required,
including official transcripts and TOEFL/GRE scores.
Please share this opportunity with students or others who may be
interested.
Sincerely,
Wansheng Liu, PhD
