       WCGALP2026

The organizers of the World Congress of Genetics Applied to Livestock
Production (https://wcgalp.com/), are excited to invite submissions for the
Communicate Your Science in Three Minutes Video Competition for Graduate
Students, Postdocs and Early Career Scientists (ECS) at the upcoming
WCGALP 2026! Submission closes midnight Pacific time on 30th June 2026.

This initiative is designed to challenge and empower young scientists to
present their research clearly, engaging, and accessible to the public.
In an era where science must connect beyond academia, your ability to
communicate impacts is more important than ever.

Purpose
To promote effective science communication by encouraging researchers to:
             Reduce technical jargon.
             Highlight real-world relevance.
             Build public understanding and trust in science.

Eligibility
             Graduate students
             Postdoctoral researchers
             Early-career scientists (within 5 years of terminal degree - must be
awarded 2021 or later)
             Must be registered participant at WCGALP 2026

Competition Requirements
Submit a 3-minute video that:
             Explains your research clearly.
             Communicates why it matters to everyday people.
             Uses minimal technical jargon.
             Is understandable to a non-scientific audience

Video Guidelines
             Length: 1:30 - 3:00 minutes (strict). Videos over 3 minutes in length
will be disqualified.
             Format: MP4
             Orientation: Landscape or Portrait
             Include an option for English closed captions that can be turned on
for accessibility
             Make sure you have permissions if you are using original images
or/and sound tracks (e.g. Creative Commons license)
             Encouraged: storytelling, creativity, humor, analogies, props, fun
             Avoid: dense slides, excessive jargon, complex unexplained figures

We strongly encourage creative formats including storytelling, visual narratives,
and even parody beyond traditional presentation styles.

Judging Criteria (100 points)
Judges are three mid-career scientists with an interest in public outreach and
communication
             Clarity & Simplicity - 30
             Geared to a General Public Audience - 20
             Engagement & Storytelling - 20
             Creativity - 30

Awards
Top three videos will be highlighted at the Friday Night Gala Dinner and the
audience will select the winner through a mobile phone survey, offering
outstanding visibility to winners, and the audience will select the winner.

Grand Prize:
The overall winner will receive a full-ride scholarship covering travel and
registration to attend the AGBT Agricultural Meeting 2027 in Florida (April 4-7,
2027) valued at up to $5,000.  This award is generously sponsored by AGBT and The
Genome Partnership.
Note: Grand prize is awarded to a single individual, even if multiple people
appear in the video.

Submission Instruction:
Make an mp4 video, upload it to an online platform (e.g. YouTube) or share a link
so we can access the video and provide the access link in the form at the link
below
