Subject: Announcement of “Genetic control of infectious
disease transmission and impact” session at the
       WCGALP 2022
Date: Thu, 08 Jul 2021 08:05:10 -0500

Dear fellow colleagues

Controlling infectious disease transmission is not only high priority in
humans at the moment, but equally important to livestock production and net
zero agriculture. We’d therefore like to draw your attention to the session
“Genetic control of infectious disease transmission and impact” at the
upcoming World Congress on Genetics Applied to Livestock Production WCGALP in
the Netherlands July 2022 ( https://wcgalp.com/). We envision that this
session will showcase and instigate exciting new methodological and
technological approaches for more effective genetic disease control in farmed
animals.

If you have exciting relevant research results related to the theme of this
session, please submit an abstract to this session. Abstract submissions open
in September 2021 and close in January 2022.

We particularly encourage submissions within the following themes

- Integration of quantitative genetics with epidemiology - theory and
  applications
- The genetics of disease resilience, resistance, tolerance and
immunocompetence, and their impact on disease transmission
- Integration of new technologies to enhance breeding for reduced disease
  transmission

With best wishes

Piter Bijma, Andrea Doeschl-Wilson and John McEwan – session chairs
